To Begin With...

God has granted to me the privilege and honour of pastoring two great United Methodist Church congregations in Mineral County Montana in what I like to call our "Late Life Adventure and Ministry".

It is my great honour to be entrusted with the spiritual care of these two congregations, Alberton United Methodist Church in Alberton, Montana and Superior United Methodist Church in Superior, Montana. I took over the reigns of leadership here in July 2023, and at the present time I have no solid ending date.

It remains in God's hands as to how long I'll remain the Pastor of this fine United Methodist Parish in Western Montana.

I will write more about all this below, as time permits, and share content about how God brought us (my wife and me) to Mineral County Parish, who we are, where we came from, and what our overall perspective is, as we serve our Lord and Saviour in this ministry.

--This Part of the Journey Begins---

In the year 2005, while I was Song Leader and Adult Sunday School Teacher at Ruby Valley Baptist Church in Sheridan, MT a young evangelist and his wife spent a week there with the church and conducted evening services every night of that week.

On the last night of his evening services, at the “Altar Call” ending the service, he called not for anyone wanting to be “Saved”, but rather that Altar Call was for anyone who was willing to “Dedicate the rest of their lives to Full Time Ministry”.

I was the only person in that congregation that night that stood up, went forward, and made a public vow and dedication to God for Full Time Ministry.

From that moment onward, the primary focus of my life has been to serve God with all my heart, all my mind, all my strength, all my resources, everything – no holding back.

Many years passed, and although God put many opportunities for Ministry in my path, where I was a Song Leader in one church, and an Adolescent age Sunday School Teacher in another church, and even Assistant Pastor in yet another church, as we traveled from Montana, to Utah, then to Whidbey Island in WA State, and finally back to Montana in 2010…I still waited for the right doors to open, and I’d have an appointment as “Pastor” of a church congregation of my own, wherewith to live out that dedication I made in 2005.

Living expenses still had to be paid, and Suzi and I worked regular jobs like nearly everyone else until we reached the minimum age to receive Social Security Benefits, at which time we both ceased working hourly wage jobs and took on positions at the local Senior Center in Sheridan, MT while conducting religious services at the town’s nursing home.

Full Time Ministry and serving God Full Time can take many forms!  It’s not an absolute requirement that a Full Time Minister occupy a pulpit and have an actual church, with regular souls to care for!  That’s the way we normally think of being Full Time in the Ministry, but there are myriad other ways God can, and will, use anyone dedicated enough to stand up and say, “Here am I.  Send me” (See Isaiah 6:8).

Then one day a lady who regularly ate lunch at the Senior Center where we were working, after she heard about my Ministerial pursuits over the years, told us that the new Pastor of her church has been delayed in arriving and that they needed someone to fill-in until that new Pastor could arrive and assume their duties.

That was June of 2021.

Long story short, wife and I began attending Bethel United Methodist Church in Sheridan, Montana, and through that beginning the rest of this Journey can be told.

---More to come as soon as possible---
