In the very early hours of February 3, the Alberton United Methodist Church building was the object of vandalism and arson. Although the structure and upstairs sanctuary are still intact, the downstairs was a total loss to fire, and there was extensive smoke and vandalism damage throughout the rest of the building.
While this has been heartbreaking, especially in the loss of personal and community history, we are grateful to God that no one was hurt, that our building is still standing and repairable, that we have insurance to cover most of the damage, and for all the ways people and other churches have reached out in support - with prayers, offers of help, and financial assistance. We are deeply blessed by your generosity. Thank you!
(And on the bright side, our church will be all sparkly clean when the restorations are finished!)
In the meantime, we'll be worshiping at
9am Sundays in the Alberton Community Center
Come worship with us!
